Sunday 14 Sep 14 was the first round of the CYC Summer Series. Three of the four local Wetas greeted the starter. The conditions were almost ideal, with a pleasant 11 knots gusting to 14 knots from the NNW, 19C and sunny skies. (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN60903/IDN60903.94926.shtml). This built to a very interesting 15 knots with gusts to 19 knots during the afternoon.
Leigh Nielsen in Wetaz (904) started well and led the fleet around the first triangle. As the wind built, Rohan Armstrong in TreVenti (963) and Wetaz swapped the lead until Rohan was able to muscle past and extend for a good win. Andy Weiss capitalised on a navigation mistake by Wetaz to finsh second.
With the largest Weta fleet at one club in Australia (?) it looks like it is going to be a great Summer Series.
